Chessmate Live is a browser chess app for practice games, private friend rooms, optional live video, and game analysis. This policy explains what information is collected, how it is used, and how to contact us.

Information We Collect

When you use Chessmate without an account, the app stores settings on your device only, such as display name, avatar choice, board theme, sound preference, drag preference, practice rating, games played, and welcome-screen state.

When you create or sign in to an account, Chessmate may store your email address, display name, avatar, practice rating, games played, email verification state, and Google account identifier if you use Google Sign-In.

Google Sign-In

If you choose Google Sign-In, Chessmate receives basic account information from Google, such as your verified email address, name, profile picture if provided, and Google user ID. This is used only to create or sign in to your Chessmate account.

Camera And Microphone

Camera and microphone access is requested only when you choose to enable live video in a friend match. The browser shows its own permission prompt before access is granted. Chessmate does not record, upload, save, or publish your camera or microphone stream.

Live Rooms And WebRTC

Private rooms use PeerJS/WebRTC for connection setup and Metered TURN relay settings when relay mode is enabled. Room links should be shared only with the person you want to play. WebRTC may exchange network connection information between players so browsers can connect.

Third-Party Services

• Google Sign-In is used for optional account login.
• Google Fonts may serve app fonts.
• Cloudflare CDN may serve JavaScript libraries.
• PeerJS cloud may handle WebRTC room signalling.
• Metered may provide TURN relay service for WebRTC connections.

How We Use Information

We use account and profile information to sign you in, show your player profile, save your practice rating, support private friend rooms, and keep your app experience consistent across sessions.

What We Do Not Do

Chessmate does not sell personal information. Chessmate does not use Google Analytics, Facebook Pixel, advertising trackers, or behavioural advertising profiles.

Data Retention And Deletion

Local device data remains until you clear browser storage. Account data remains until you delete your account or request deletion. You can request data removal by contacting support@chessmate.ly.
